Christian Nonfiction, Christian Living

Don Carter is a Christian author, software architect, and founder of House of the Broken Bread Publishing. His writing focuses on the place where biblical truth meets ordinary life: work, hardship, relationships, responsibility, doubt, growth, and the daily decision to follow Christ. Rather than presenting faith as a collection of easy answers, Don writes about the tension between what Christians believe and how those beliefs are lived when life becomes difficult. His work challenges readers to examine inherited assumptions, confront uncomfortable questions, and develop a faith strong enough to endure pressure without becoming rigid, shallow, or disconnected from reality. Don is the author of the five-volume Practical Christianity series: Foundations, The Forged Soul, Under Pressure, Confronting the World, and Creation, Innovation, and Eternity. Together, the books explore the formation, testing, expression, and purpose of a mature Christian life. He also writes daily reflections at Walking With Christ, where he has spent years exploring Scripture, spiritual formation, human nature, and the lessons found in everyday experience. Don lives in southwest Missouri with his wife, Alona, and their three children. Through both his writing and his work with House of the Broken Bread, he seeks to help others recognize the value of their own stories, develop their voices, and faithfully pursue the work placed before them.

Why we exist

We publish books that challenge, encourage, unsettle, teach, entertain, and endure. Our catalog isn't limited to one kind of story or one kind of reader, but it's shaped by a simple conviction: words matter, and the books we release should be handled with care.
